The land of Bengal, with its indigenous art and craft, represents a distinct culture. For the most part, the crafts tradition of Bengal is folk in character and linked to people’s everyday life. Even mundane items of daily use like cooking pots or baskets or combs or mirrors or humble reed mats reflect great beauty along with their utility. Every item reflects a combination of qualities that delight the aesthetic sense of the people in general. Some of the indigenous and popular art forms of Bengal are the Kalighat Pats, Dolls of Krishnanagar, Baluchari of Bishnupur and several others.
