Bengal, the land of varied cultures and traditions, celebrates numerous festivals. There is a saying in Bangla “Baaro Maashe Tero Paarbon” which literally means thirteen festivals in twelve months. This famous Bengali saying however grossly underestimates the total number of festivals actually celebrated in Bengal. Be it cultural or religious, every festival gives everyone an opportunity to enjoy and embrace ones roots. Socio-cultural events influenced by other cultures and religions also find their place in many festivities of Bengal. Excellence in cultural arena embraces different art forms and genres.
