      Bengal has a tropical climate.But the climate varies here according to the location.In the northern part of the state,adjacent to the Himalayas, the climate is cooler than the plains in the southrern region. During summer it is very hot here and the temparature ranges from 38° C to 45° C in different parts of the state. Hot, Rainy , Post monsoon ( corresponding to Autumn ) and Cold are the four marked seasons observed in Bengal .Monsoon arrives here in the middle of June and lasts for nearly two months.Cultivation is heavily dependent upon the monsoon rain. Kalbaisakhi or the “norwester” is a regular feature of the summer season of Bengal.

      Climate in Bangladesh is usually warm and humid throughout the year. During winter it has an average temparature of 18°C and during summer the usual temparature is 28°C . Bangladesh receives good rain mainly through monsoon season.Innumerable number of rivers and a large water body has an impct on the climatic condition of the country and its economy.Bangladesh is a cyclone prone region. Severe cyclone and the tidal waves cause loss of life and property of the people every year in the state.

      West Bengal is very rich in flora and fauna. Its diverse echo system and protected forest cover also help maintain the situation here. In Sunderban, which is in the southern part of the state, the state has the largest mangroove forest of the world, Whereas the hills of North Bengal is the paradise of diverse flora and fauna. The state can boast of a good number of Wild life sanctuaries and National parks.Sunderban Tiger project and Buxa tiger reserve indicate the state’s concern about the preservation of flora and fauna of the region.
